Another Alien Movie by Ridley Scott?
Since Disney acquired 21st Century Fox , the Alien franchise now has a certain future and there’s now an update on where the story may stand in the next movie. No one knew if there would ever be a follow on to the last movie released in the franchise, Alien: Covenant, which came out in 2017. But, the next movie in the works is already in the script phase, with Ridley Scott as the director of a third Alien prequel according to Variety.
There are rumors it may be the long planned Alien: Awakening, but there’s a possibility it may have turned into something else.
Ridley Scott, during talks with Disney was iffy about bringing back the Alien storyline and how you can bring it back to life, he says “You get to the point when you say, ‘Okay, it’s dead in the water.’ I think Alien vs. Predator was a daft idea. And I’m not sure it did very well or not, I don’t know. But it somehow brought down the beast. And I said to them, ‘Listen, you can resurrect this, but we have to go back to scratch and go to a prequel, if you like.’ So we go to Prometheus, which was not bad actually.”
So far, Disney hasn’t officially announced this Alien prequel nor is there a timeline for production. Also Disney won’t do R-rated movies, but they now have Fox for this kind of movie and the likes of Deadpool. But there’s a possibility the next Alien movie could be PG-13 like the first Alien vs. Predator movie.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first movie of the Alien franchise.
