Dark Crisis: The New DC Comic Book Event of 2022
It’s almost been a tradition for the two big comic book companies like Marvel and DC to always have a crisis event that would rope in new readers, keep the old ones or entice previous comic book readers back into the fold.
Like Free Comic Book Day, it’s an annual thing that the two companies milk to no end in order to rake in more sales. This year is no different.
According to DC, the said crisis is said to be 30 years in the making and will dovetail the events of the current issues of “Justice League” and culminating in Issue #75 where members of the League fail and it is up to the younger and newer batch of heroes to step up to the game and defend our reality in the Multiverse of things, which is known as Earth Zero.
In the first original event of the 80’s called, Crisis on Infinite Earths, Marv Wolfman and George Perez gave us readers an event unparalleled occurrence in comics wherein some heroes who faced a reality obliterating foe did not survive while at the same time culling the then-roster into a manageable number.
This new event spins out of that original crisis wherein the survivor of the homeworld of Pariah has returned and finds that he has a chance to bring back his homeworld and the entire infinite Multiverse. The only condition was for our current Earth-Zero to die. This time around who will rally and answer the call to save our reality?
Dark Crisis will be a monthly event, written by Joshua Williamson, and featuring art by Daniel Sampere. This will kick off with Dark Crisis #0 FCBD Special Edition, available on Free Comic Book Day on May 7.
A special one-shot, Justice League: Road to Dark Crisis #1, will be available at local comics shops on May 31.
