FX’s hit horror anthology series American Horror Story will take its viewers to the 80’s in a teaser trailer for its ninth season titled American Horror Story: 1984. The new season appears to be a homage to 80’s summer camp horror movies such as Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

In the trailer, a truck packed with campers heads toward “Camp Redwood” on a breezy lake while ignoring the “BEWARE” sign, as well as a masked figure with a knife hitching a ride underneath their car. At the lake, an unsuspecting girl in a canoe falls victim to the killer.

It has been announced that Emma Roberts, Billy Lourd, John Carroll Lynch, Leslie Grossman, and Cody Fern will return as cast members. Co-creator Ryan Murphy has also brought on two of his recurrent actors, Matthew Morrison (Glee) and Angelica Ross (Pose), in main roles. AHS regulars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Billy Eichner will not be returning this season. The season premieres on September 18th in the US on FX.
