Final negotiations for Paul Rudd to join Sony’s latest installment of Ghostbusters are already ongoing. According to Variety, the actor would most likely play a teacher in the film.

Along with Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard and Gifted star Mckenna Grace, Carrie Coon is also in talks to be part of the movie.  Stepping into the director’s chair is John Reitman, the son of Ivan Reitman whom directed the original Ghostbusters film. Together with Gil Kenan, Reitman co-wrote the screenplay and plans to shoot the film soon. Ghostbusters 2020 is expected to hit theaters in summer of next year.

“I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ at Sundance. I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe,” said Jason Reitman.

According to Variety, the story will be an extension of the original Ghostbusters and focus on a single mom and her family, with Coon playing the mom and Wolfhard playing her son. How the story would connect to the original Ghostbusters series is still unknown. Sigourney is also rumored to return as Dana Barret.

The Ghostbusters sequel will be produced by Ivan Reitman.
