Three of the world’s best islands are in the Philippines

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is happy that three of the country’s islands, Boracay, Palawan and Cebu, were named by the New York-based travel magazine Travel + Leisure (T+L) as three of “The 25 Best Islands in the World.”

“Weigh in on travel experiences around the world — offer your ideas on the top cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more,” T+L questioned their readers. Using these criteria, readers ranked islands on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the best and one being the worst.

According to the Philippine News Agency, the decision was made based on a number of factors, such as how easy it is to get around on foot, how good the public transportation is, how safe it is, and how sustainable it is, in addition to a busy nightlife, great food and drink, and culture and art.
