“Squid Game” Creator has a new movie

These days the creator of the popular Netflix Korean TV series, “Squid Game” has much to celebrate.

Not only was his creation a number one series on the streaming platform when it came out and was the talk of the town, the show’s stars also went on US talk shows to promote the series, clearly an indication that the Americans are not only warming up to things Korean but know that these creatives from South Korea are becoming a force to reckon with in terms of content and creation.

Not that we didn’t know about that because of Kpop and KDramas, but more likely the percentage of the American audience is just finding out now just how prevalent these Koreans are creatively.

Hwang Dong-Yuk started off writing “Squid Game” as a last creative resort and has since then paid off. He is currently working on adapting the novel, “Killing Old People Club”, into a movie.

The South Korean director has admitted that he already wrote a 25-page treatment for the project, which has the working title of K.O. Club, and joked that because of its title alone, it could be the reason why the filmmaker will have to hide from old people.

The film is based on the book by Italian author, intellectual, and essayist, Umberto Eco.

He also adds that it will probably be more violent than Squid Game.

As for that particular franchise, he says that he is also working on a treatment for the 2nd and even 3rd season. And because it will be sometime before we see a new season, fans of the show and those who have yet to watch it can stream it repeatedly (or not) on Netflix.
