SMC Tollways on Community Quarantine in Metro Manila

SMC Tollways expresses its full cooperation with the government in implementing necessary measures at the Southern Luzon Expressway to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

While we are still awaiting issuance o  the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) on the Community Quarantine period for Metro Manila, what we know for now is that:

  • checkpoints, manned by military and police personnel, will be established in designated areas.
  • motorists will be asked to present their identification cards to show they work in Metro Manila.
  • thermal scanners will be used to check people’s temperatures. Please expect to encounter delays in your trip.

We will provide information on the official and updated guidelines once government has issued them.

To protect both our motorists and tollways employees, SMC Tollways has also put in place heightened safety measures:

  • Alcohol dispensers are available at the toll plazas and SMC Tollways facilities.
  • Tellers and traffic personnel on duty are required to wear face masks and surgical gloves.
  • Toll booths and patrol vehicles are strictly sanitized before and after each shift.

We encourage motorists to help reduce the risk of contamination by using our RFID electronic toll payment facility.

Meanwhile, vital construction and maintenance work on our toll roads will continue.

During this crucial time, when we are all enjoined to help contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus, your cooperation and support will be greatly needed and appreciated.
