The live-action remake of Disney’s animated classic Little Mermaid has found its Prince Eric and it turns out to be newcomer Jonah Hauer-King.

Hauer-King is fairly new in the industry, he starred in the TV miniseries Little Women and Howard’s End as well as Sony’s A Dog’s Way Home.

Joining him in the cast is Halle Bailey who will portray as the mermaid princess Ariel, Melissa McCarthy who will be playing as Ariel’s evil aunt Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton and Daveed Diggs, who has been tapped to play Sebastian in the said film.

The Little Mermaid live-action remake will be directed by Marshall and written by David Magee. The movie will also incorporate original songs from the 1989 animated classic, as well as new music from original composer Alan Menken with lyrics by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda is also one of the producers of the film along with Marshall, Marc Platt and John DeLuca.
