House of Dragon, the prequel to the Game of Thrones series, is set to be released in 2022.

Casey Bloys, HBO’s President of Programming, estimates that the show would most likely be released sometime in 2022, since the team has already started writing the script.

Despite it being part of the four potential GoT spinoff series, Bloys stated the House of the Dragon will be a priority for the network to be released.

House of the Dragon is inspired by George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood spinoff novel to A Song of Ice and Fire. Martin is penning the story of the show alongside Ryan Condal, who will serve as the showrunner of the series together with Emmy award-winning GoT director Miguel Sapochnik.

House of Dragon will be streamed via HBO’s upcoming HBO Max service, when it releases in 2022.
