Coming Soon: Captain Marvel 2

Marvel confirmed that a sequel for their first female-led superhero movie will be happening.

The studio is aiming to release Captain Marvel 2 come 2020, and they are eyeing Megan McDonnel to write the script. McDonnel is a staff writer for the upcoming Disney+ Marvel series WandaVision and reports say that she is already in final negotiations to seal the deal with Marvel Studios.

Unfortunately, the directors and co-writers of the original Captain Marvel film will not be returning for the sequel, but Marvel is hoping to land a female filmmaker to direct the movie.

The story of the sequel will take place in the present day, probably post-Avengers: Endgame. But since McDonnel and Disney still haven’t revealed anything about the plot, it might also take place just right before or during the time skip in Endgame.
