Benedict Cumberbatch stars in 1917

The new film of Oscar winner Sam Mendes, 1917, has released a tense new trailer on August 1 (Thursday) and it stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Colin Firth.

The movie 1917 follows two young British soldiers in a single day at the height of the conflict as Schofield (George MacKay) and Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission.

According to Digital Spy, the film began production in April this year, and will also feature Cumberbatch’s Sherlock co-star and Black Mirror leading man Andrew Scott, as well as Richard Madden of Bodyguard, Mark Strong of Shazam! and Line of Duty star Daniel Mays.

Director Mendes wrote the screenplay with Krysty Wilson-Cairns of Penny Dreadful. He also produced the film with Pippa Harris, Jayne-Ann Tenggren and Callum McDougall.

1917 will be released in December 25, 2019.
