A New Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
I’ve got exciting news that any 90’s child would love or if you’re a millennial, then it would be worth checking out in the future.
It is confirmed that “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” will be back! It was announced at Comic-Con that the show’s creator Joss Whedon is working on a reboot of Buffy and this time, it will feature an African-American Vampire Slayer. Not a lot of fans loved this idea because for those who grew up watching Sarah Michelle Gellar kick vampire ass for seven seasons, it’s hard to imagine somebody replacing her.
But before you get riled up, the new showrunner Monica Owusu-Breen has already clarified that “there is only one Buffy” and that the new version of the series is not a reboot but a sequel! She noted, “Joss Whedon’s brilliant and beautiful series can’t be replicated. I wouldn’t try to.” If you have not seen the show, it is safe to say it started the whole vampire series trend and that it is often described as one of the best television shows ever made.
I don’t know about you but I am excited to binge-watch this when it finally comes out. It’s been 20 years and a lot has changed; and if they pick it up from where the original series left off, maybe a new slayer isn’t so bad.
