Turtles in Gotham!!!

Who would’ve thought that Bats and Turtles could live together hand in hand?

Well, in the DC Animated Universe, it is not only possible but also coming our way this 2019!
Based on a crossover comic book miniseries called Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by veteran DC writer James Tynion (Batman Eternal/Constantine: Helllblazer) and Freddie Williams (He-Man/ThunderCats), the comic book was a 6-issue miniseries that was jointly published by DC Comics and IDW Publishing. It ran from December 2016 to May 2016. The comic begins when in the heat of a confrontation, the Turtles and their arch nemesis, Shredder, along with Master Splinter have all been transported to an alternate universe. That “alternate” universe is none other than Gotham. While the bad guys kidnap scientists and steal components that would help them get home, the Turtles are also looking for a way to get back home and have made the Gotham sewer as their home base. Well, where else right?
This puts them in the sights of one of Batman’s villains, Killer Croc, who discovers their lair and forces them to relocate. This also brings them in contact with Batman, who at that same moment was busy fighting Shredder. To make the long story short, villains had to team up with fellow villains so they can get what they want and heroes had to band together in order to send the Turtles home, resolve the matter as soon as possible and bring back some normalcy to Gotham.

The animated movie will have the voice talents of Troy Baker reprising his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne from Batman: The Telltale Series and Lego DC Super Heroes. He will in fact be doing double duty as he will also provide the voice of Batman’s arch nemesis, The Joker. His most notable performance to date is Joel from The Last of Us video game and as Hawkeye and Loki in several MARVEL projects. Apart from being a voice actor, he is also the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the indie-rock band, Tripp Fontaine. The group released their debut album Random Thoughts on a Paper Napkin, back in in 2004.

Included in the cast is Golden Globe winner Darren Criss as one of the Turtles along with other voice actors, Kyle Mooney, Baron Vaughn, and Eric Bauza. Rachel Bloom is also back to provide her voice for the characters of Barbara Gordon whom we know as Batgirl. Penguin will be voiced by Tom Kenny.
Mr. Freeze is slated to be voiced by John DiMaggio. Tara Strong is tasked with the voices of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy while Cas Canvar will be voicing the enigmatic villain and Batman mentor, Ra’s Al Gul.
The first trailer was released yesterday on Caz’s birthday. The film itself will have its World Premiere at WONDERCON, in Anaheim in California on March 31, 2019.
