Ubisoft’s The Division will have a live-action adaptation, three years after the movie was first announced.

The movie will star Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal and will be directed by David Leitch (the director of Deadpool 2). More information is expected to be released in the future according to an Ubisoft developer. A synopsis of the film released by Netflix reads:

“In the near future, a pandemic virus is spread via paper money on Black Friday, decimating the city of New York and killing millions. By Christmas, what’s left of society has descended into chaos. A group of civilians, trained to operate in catastrophic times, are activated in an attempt to save who and what remains.”

After the announcement of the film development, The Division has developed. Ubisoft has released a second Division game which followed the immense success of their first title. The Division had the highest first-day sales of any title of Ubisoft’s history at that time. The game raked in an estimated $330 million over the first five days of its release.

The Division marks a big return to movie adaptations of video games. Ubisoft and Netflix have not announced a release date yet.
