New Hunger Games movie in the works

I know what you’re thinking…

There are only 3 books in the series, why make a fourth movie? True. But the creators didn’t say that they are going to move forward. They can always move backward.

Yup, you guessed it. It is a prequel.

Looks like we all need to get ready to go back to Panem.

The new film is going to be based on the new Hunger Games book, “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” written by the same bestselling author, Suzanne Collins.

Although the book itself has yet to be released, it is set during the 10th annual Hunger Games and tells the story of 18-year-old, Coriolanus Snow, the man who would later become the ruthless ruler of Panem in the book and film adaptation as played by Donald Sutherland.

The book is being released this May 19 while the film itself does not have a release date yet.
The new “Hunger Games” film will also be directed by Francis Lawrence, who directed films 2 to 4 in the franchise. The first one was directed by Gary Ross.

Screenwriter Michael Arndt and producer Nina Jacobson are also on board for the prequel.
“The Hunger Games” films, which were released starting in 2012, starred Jennifer Lawrence as protagonist Katniss Everdeen and launched her to superstardom.
