One of the most iconic comic book series of Vertigo and DC Comics, The Sandman, is finally set to hit the small screen on Netflix.

According to Geek Culture, Neil Gaiman has long been the subject of many failed adaptations to be brought to the live-action format, one of these failed adaptations is a feature film by New Line Cinema in 2013, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt set to star as Dream/Morpheus but left the project due to creative differences

As Netflix takes the reins on the weird fantasy masterpiece of Gaiman, It seems that the bad streak might finally be broken. Gaiman will co-produce Netflix’s The Sandman alongside David S. Gover (The Dark KnightBatman v Superman). Penning the episodes of the show will be Allan Heinberg (Wonder WomanGrey’s Anatomy). No information was released regarding the episode count and length, but this should prove as one of the most heavily anticipated shows on Netflix when it releases.

The Sandman is due for release in 2020.
