Ironically, when David O. Russel was first directing an adaptation of the video game years ago, Wahlberg was originally casted to play Drake. Wahlberg wanted to return to the movie in some capacity now that Sony is turning the project into an origin story.

Penning the script of the adaptation is Rafe Judkins with the team of Art Marcum and Matt Halloway and it will be produced by Charles Roven and Alex Gartner through Atlas Entertainment, as well as Avi and Ari Arad through Arad Productions. Also, helping with the production is Sony’s PlayStation Productions which is headed by Asad Quizilbash and Carter Swan, they will serve as executive producers on Uncharted, this will serve as the first true partnership between PlayStation Production and Sony Pictures.
