Is MARVEL finally adding Professor X into the MCU?

While it may be the new year some things have remained the same.

Marvel still knows how to deliver the perfect (almost) superhero movie and that it has bought out 20th Century Fox (now called 20th Century Studios) and it’s franchise of X-men films.

Patrick Stewart, who plays Charles Xavier in the Xmen movie franchise, has admitted that he has met Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, a couple of months back and his talk has indeed included moves and suggestions and yes, even the character of Professor X that he has played since the first X-men film was brought to the screen by director, Bryan Singer, back in 2000.

But he quickly cautioned fans from being too hopeful that he may just reprise his role for a new generation of mutant filled films for the MCU. He says that had he and Hugh not made Logan in 2017 where they both said goodbye to their respective Xmen character, Professor X and Wolverine, then he may yet entertain the possibility of coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for at least one more time.

He recounted how he and Hugh Jackman were holding hands and tearing up at the last 8 minutes of Logan and that it was bittersweet to have to say goodbye to a character that they both have originated onscreen together and have played for quite some time.

But the good thing that came from that experience was that it helped convince him to return to the small screen where he will be reprising another popular character. And that is Captain Jean Luc Picard from the Star Trek: The Next Generation TV series. This time around he is starring in his own character-show called Picard, and will premiere on CBS All Access on January 23rd.
