The TV series Lord of the Rings will re-populate Middle-earth once again.  According to Variety, the series is making exciting progress by eyeing its first cast member in Markella Kavenagh.

Kavenagh is an Australian actress who had her breakthrough in Romper Stomper, an Aussie TV series, and has more recently turned in buzzy performances in Picnic at Hanging Rock and The Cry on BBC. She is expected to play a character named Tyra in the said adaptation, but no other information have been revealed about the character.

Amazon’s adaptation of Lord of the Rings is based on “previously unexplored stories based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s original writings,” unlike the award-winning films of Sir Peter Jackson.

According to Digital Spy, Peter Jackson will not be involved in the series, nor will his notable cast members Andy Serkis or John Rhys-Davies, while Sean Astin has called the prequel concept “intriguing”.

Amazon released a teaser on Twitter earlier this year along with a caption that reads: “Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky.”

The Lord of the Rings series is set to arrive in 2021 on Amazon Prime Video.
