Disney is the First to Earn $10B at the Global Box Office

Disney now holds the record for the first-ever studio to hit $10 billion at the global box office in a single year. Frozen 2 played a big role in hitting the mark by grossing about US$920 million in its third week in cinemas.

The last record that Disney achieved was when they grossed US$7.6 billion in 2016. Disney has broken this record earlier this year with the release of The Lion King in July.

This feat from Disney isn’t really surprising since they have been releasing a lot of hit movies this year, which includes Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel that grossed US$3.9 billion worldwide.

Apart from the movies mentioned, they’ve also released Aladdin (US$1.03 billion), The Lion King (US$ 1.65 billion) and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 (US$1.07 billion). All of these achievements and yet we’re still waiting for yet another anticipated film which is Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
