Christina Aguilera announces 20th Anniv. Editions of her debut album

To celebrate Christina Aguilera’s 20th anniversary of her self-titled album this month, she plans to put out not just one, but three special releases.

Aguilera announced the news on Tuesday (Aug 13) on a tweet saying: “This month marks 20 years since my debut album, Christina Aguilera, was released! In its honor, I’m releasing xxtra special versions digitally & at my store..and more surprises…on Aug 23rd!” She also urged her fans to share their memories of the record using the hashtag #XXtina. The said special releases will be out through Legacy Recordings the day before the official anniversary of Christina Aguilera on Aug. 24.

The digital edition will feature songs from the original album, as well as rare versions, remixes and acapella tracks that were previously not available in Christina Aguilera’s store. There will also be a limited amount of special collector’s bundles that include a picture disc vinyl edition with an autographed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity, a collectible Christina Aguilera cassette, the digital download and a selection of 20th-anniversary retro merch. Also, Urban Outfitters plans to stock an exclusive limited edition of the original album pressed on “Genie Fiery Orange Vinyl” that will be available both in stores and online on Aug 23 as well.

The self-titled album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 1999. According to Billboard, the said album went eight times platinum and earned Aguilera her first Grammy for best new artist.
