Last Sunday was a memorable day in Seattle for fans, friends and family of the late Chris Cornell.  The Seattle Museum of Pop Culture unveiled his life size bronze statue in a ceremony. Present was his wife, Vicky Cornell, their kids Lily, Christopher, Toni and his former band mates Tim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd.

Vicky Cornell commissioned and donated the statue and after the ceremony, they screened a 2013 Soundgarden show from The Wiltern, inside the Museum of Pop Culture’s Sky Church. The Museum’s artistic director, Jason Emmons, said that they were honoured to receive the statue and “pay tribute to one of the most powerful and important voices in popular music.”

Chris Cornell’s estate announced that fans can expect a “New career-spanning box set will be released later this year, featuring a 62 track release will feature solo work as well as tracks from Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden and Audio Slave.”
