A Quiet Place 2 release date changed…

Horror fans (that’s us) can finally make more noise as the release date for the sequel to the one horror film that had everyone all quiet in the cinemas has been moved forward. According to Paramount Pictures, they have changed the original release date of the sequel from May 15, 2020 to March 20, 2020!

Last year October 2018, John Krasinski, announced that he was writing the sequel to A Quiet Place. He has also added that will be directing the sequel.

A Quiet Place, was released last year and was the surprise hit of the season. It grossed over $340 million worldwide and was praised for it’s atmosphere and originality. Viewers were treated to a “frighteningly good time” of a film. The film itself was chosen as one of the Top Films of 2018 of the American Film Institute.

Set in a post-apocalyptic environment, the film opens with a family rummaging through an abandoned grocery store. The world has changed as aliens have taken over and are attracted to sound. The least noise possible ensures one’s survival.

The film follows Lee (Krasinki) and Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and their kids as they attempt to stay silent and alive.

The new film will see the return of Blunt, alongside Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds as Evelyn’s children Marcus and Regan. This time they will be joined by Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Inception, Red Eye) whose role is under wraps so far, but he’s said to be playing “a man with mysterious intentions who joins the family unit”.

The cast have previously teased some possible directions that sequel could go down, with Krasinski stating it’s less about the villain (à la Alien) but actually more on the “set of rules” that have “very different facets” that can be explored.

But then he also teased and said that he’s going to come back as a ghost in the sequel, although that’s (probably?) a joke.

Filming is expected to take place this summer.
