A new installment of the horror film Scream is reportedly in the works after more than two decades after the first movie of the franchise was released.

The fifth film of the slasher series is currently being developed by Spyglass Media Group according to Bloody Disgusting. Though, it is still unknown what form it will take following the death of its creator Wes Craven in 2015.

All of the previous Scream films were directed by Craven, but other filmmakers came on board to direct episodes of the TV series that ran for two seasons on MTV and on VH1.

Reports from Bloody Disgusting say that the new film will not be penned by Scream co-creator Kevin Williamson so it’s still a mystery if the upcoming new installment of the film series will take place in the same universe as the original Scream films.

It is also unknown if former Scream stars – like David Arquette, Neve Campbell, and Friends star Courtney Cox – will be reprising their roles in the upcoming new installment.

Sooner or later more information will emerge for Scream 5. Right now, we’re just happy that it’s happening.
